About Solitaire Deck

What this is

Solitaire Deck is 11 solitaire games — Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, TriPeaks, Pyramid, Yukon, Russian Solitaire, Scorpion, Golf, Forty Thieves and Canfield — playable free in your browser. There is nothing to download and nothing to install: open a page, the cards are dealt, and you play. There is no account, no sign-up and no login anywhere on the site.

Why it exists

Roughly one Klondike shuffle in five cannot be won, no matter how well it is played. Most solitaire sites deal a plain random shuffle and say nothing about that — so when a player gets stuck twenty minutes in, there is no way to tell a bad shuffle from a bad decision, and the player is left blaming themselves for a hand that was never winnable in the first place. This site was built to close that gap: check what can be checked, and be plain about what can't.

How deals are checked

Not every game gets checked the same way, because not every game can be. Below is what we actually do for each one — read straight from the game engine, not summarised or rounded up.

Verified winnable — Klondike, FreeCell, Pyramid, TriPeaks and Yukon — means a solver played that exact shuffle to a finished game before it was ever dealt to anyone. For every one of those except FreeCell, the solver could see cards that are dealt face down to you, so a verified deal is winnable in principle rather than winnable blind; FreeCell deals all 52 cards face up, so nothing is hidden from you either. Built winnable — Spider — is not solved but constructed: the deal is generated by unwinning an already-won board, so the moves that undo the scrambling are themselves a winning line. Screened for dead ends — Russian Solitaire and Scorpion — means the solver is used to prove some shuffles unwinnable and throw them away, without being able to prove the rest winnable; no winning line is claimed for what remains. Random deal — Golf, Forty Thieves and Canfield — means exactly that: a plain shuffle with no check at all, and some of those deals will be impossible from the moment they hit the table. What this site does not do

There are no accounts and no sign-ups, so there is nothing to create and nothing to lose access to. There is no analytics or tracking product installed — how you play, how long you stay and which games you open are not measured and not sent anywhere. Your saved games and your statistics are kept in your own browser and never leave it; we have no way to read them and no server-side record of them exists.

Who runs it

Solitaire Deck is run by one person. It is not a studio and not a company with a support desk — questions and reports go to a real inbox and get a real reply, not a ticket queue.
