Accepting these terms

This site is operated by Solitaire Deck. By opening a page here and playing, you accept the terms below. If you do not accept them, please close the page — that is the whole of the remedy, on both sides.

There is nothing to sign and no account to cancel. These terms apply for as long as you use the site and no longer.

The service

The site is free. There is no subscription, no purchase, no account, no login and nothing to install. You open a game, the cards are dealt, and you play in your browser.

Games, rules, layouts and features may be added, changed or removed at any time, and the site may be unavailable for a while or shut down altogether without notice. Your saved games and statistics live in your own browser, so anything that clears your browser storage clears them too. Nothing here is a backup service.

What “verified winnable” means

This is the most important thing on the page, so read it before you rely on the claim anywhere else on the site. Deals are checked in four different ways, and the games are not all in the same group.

Solver-verified — Klondike, FreeCell, TriPeaks, Pyramid, Yukon. Before that shuffle was ever dealt to anyone, a solver played it through to a finished game. A complete winning line exists for the exact arrangement of cards in front of you.

For four of those five there is a catch, and it is the whole catch: the solver can see the face-down cards and you cannot. Klondike, TriPeaks and Yukon put cards face down on the table, and Klondike, Pyramid and TriPeaks keep a face-down stock whose order you discover only as you turn it. The solver works through the deal with all of that visible. You play the same deal blind. So a verified deal of those games is winnable in principle, not winnable by you, and losing one is entirely normal — it usually means a card you could not see was not where you guessed.

FreeCell is the exception. All 52 cards are dealt face up and there is no stock, so you can see everything the solver saw — nothing is hidden from you. That does not make the deal easy: the winning line can still be long and unforgiving, and finding it is the entire game. But if you lose a verified FreeCell deal, it is not because information was kept from you.

Winnable by construction — Spider, at one, two and four suits. These deals are not solved; they are built. The generator starts from an already-won board and unwinds it into a shuffle, so the moves that undo the scrambling are themselves a winning line. A win provably exists because of how the deal was made. Spider deals cards face down and holds a face-down stock, so the same gap between what the generator knew and what you can see applies here too.

Screened only — Russian Solitaire, Scorpion. These games are too hard for the solver to win reliably, but it is good at proving a shuffle dead. So shuffles that can be proven unwinnable are thrown away, and the rest are dealt. No winning line was found for these deals. Not proven dead is not the same as proven winnable, and we do not claim it is.

Random — Golf, Forty Thieves, Canfield. These are shuffled and dealt with no check at all. We make no winnability claim about them whatsoever. Some of the deals you get will be impossible from the moment they hit the table. That is the nature of the game, and we would rather say so than quietly imply otherwise.

In any of these games a wrong move can close off the last winning line, and correct play afterwards will not conjure it back. That is not the end of the deal, though. You can undo move after move, not just the last one, and if you run out of moves the site will search back through the positions it still holds for the most recent one the bot can win from and offer to take you there. So a mistake made a good many moves ago is usually recoverable.

Two honest limits on that. The game keeps a few hundred recent positions rather than the whole deal, so in a very long game the earliest ones are dropped and become unreachable — both for undo and for the search. And the search does not always find a winnable point, and cannot invent a win the cards no longer allow.

Where the site says a deal is verified, that word means exactly what is written above for that game and nothing more. Losing a game — verified, constructed, screened or random — gives rise to no refund, credit, compensation or other remedy. The site is free, no money changes hands, and a lost hand of solitaire is not a defect.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

• attempt to disrupt, overload, break into or otherwise interfere with the site or the servers it runs on;
• scrape or automate requests at a rate that degrades the site for other people — read it at a human pace, or write and ask;
• republish the site's written content, code or card artwork as your own, or pass off a copy of the site as your own service.

Access may be blocked if any of that happens. Playing the games, however much and however often, is not abuse — that is what the site is for.

Intellectual property

The site's code, its written content and its card artwork belong to Solitaire Deck and are protected by copyright. You may play the games and link to any page freely.

The games themselves are traditional public-domain card games. Klondike, FreeCell, Spider and the rest are centuries of shared invention, and no claim is made over the rules of any of them. Nobody owns solitaire, and this site does not pretend to.

If you believe something published here infringes your copyright, write to dmca@solitaire-d.online with enough detail to identify the work and the page.

Advertising

The site may display advertising. As of the date at the top of this page it does not, and nothing on the site currently requests an ad.

If advertising is displayed, it will be supplied by third-party advertising networks. What those ads say, what they offer and where they lead is chosen by those networks and their advertisers, not by us — we do not review individual ads and do not endorse them. Any dealing you have with an advertiser is between you and them. How advertising would affect cookies and data on your device is covered by the privacy policy.

No warranty

The site is provided as-is and as-available, without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be available, uninterrupted, error-free or free of bugs, that any game will behave exactly as you expect, or that it is fit for any particular purpose. In particular, and to repeat the point above, nothing here warrants that you will win any given deal.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Solitaire Deck is not liable for any loss or damage arising out of your use of this site — including lost saved games, lost statistics, lost time, or anything that follows from the site being unavailable or behaving unexpectedly.

Some laws do not permit certain liabilities to be excluded, particularly for consumers. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and where a limitation above goes further than the law permits, it applies only as far as the law permits and the rest of these terms continue to apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If the law where you live gives you rights as a consumer that this clause cannot take away, it does not take them away.

Changes to these terms

These terms will change when the site does. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version, and that version is the one that applies. There is no archive of earlier versions; the current text governs. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the changed terms.
